Round Rock sits just north of Austin on I-35 and has grown into a city of more than 140,000 people. It's home to Dell's headquarters, the Dell Diamond and some of the most popular neighborhoods in Williamson County. Whether you're moving into an apartment off University Blvd, a house in a master-planned community or a home near downtown, here's what our Round Rock crew has learned moving people all over town.

Where people are moving in Round Rock

  • Old Town and downtown: older homes, big oak trees and narrow streets near Main Street. Expect tight driveways and street parking, so it helps to plan where the truck will go.

  • Teravista and Forest Creek: golf-course communities with larger homes. Many have HOA rules about when and where moving trucks can park.

  • Brushy Creek and the west side: established neighborhoods with mature trees and family homes, close to Brushy Creek Regional Trail.

  • Newer communities east of I-35: new construction keeps going up toward Hutto. New streets sometimes don't show up right in GPS yet, so share a pin or cross streets for moving day.

  • Apartments along University Blvd and La Frontera: lots of second- and third-floor units, gate codes and assigned loading spots.

Moving-day tips for Round Rock

  1. Plan around I-35 and SH 45. Rush hour backs up fast, especially near the SH 45 and University Blvd exits. Early starts help if your move crosses into Austin or Georgetown.

  2. Watch for game days and outlet traffic. Round Rock Express games at the Dell Diamond and weekend shoppers at Round Rock Premium Outlets can slow traffic around I-35 and US-79.

  3. Check HOA and apartment rules. Ask about move-in hours, elevator reservations, truck parking and gate codes before moving day.

  4. Beat the heat. Summer afternoons are hot. Morning moves are easier on everyone, including your furniture and electronics.

  5. School-year timing. Summer is the busiest moving season for families. If you're moving between June and August, book early.

  6. Keep one box with essentials: chargers, medicine, toilet paper, a few tools, and paperwork for the new place.
